Shivamogga announces Samadhan Samaroh special Lok Adalat to expedite Supreme Court cases through mediation and settlement

Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Santosh M. S., has appealed to the public to make full use of the upcoming “Samadhan Samaroh” special Lok Adalat, scheduled to be held on August 21, 22, and 23, for the speedy disposal of pending cases in the Supreme Court.
Addressing a press conference at the VC Hall of the court premises, he said the initiative is being organized under the directions of the National Legal Services Authority and the State Legal Services Authority. The aim is to facilitate quick settlement of long-pending cases through conciliation and mutual agreement.
Under this special programme, 47 cases from Shimoga district that are pending before the Supreme Court have been identified for settlement through mediation. Notices will be issued to the concerned parties, and hearings will be conducted by trained mediators. The cases will be resolved through video conferencing from the Supreme Court itself. He emphasized that no financial burden will be placed on the parties, and justice through settlement will be ensured.
He also urged litigants with eligible pending cases to approach the District Legal Services Authority or email samadhansamaroh@gmail.com to avail themselves of this opportunity.
In addition, the second National Lok Adalat of the year will be held on July 11 across all courts in Shimoga district. Cases related to matrimonial disputes, family matters, cheque bounce cases, motor accident compensation claims, insurance disputes, civil cases, property partition, land acquisition, compoundable criminal cases, bank recovery cases, and consumer disputes will be taken up for amicable settlement.
Highlighting past achievements, Santosh M. S. said that during the National Lok Adalat held on March 14, a total of 14,501 cases were settled, with compensation exceeding Rs. 28.48 crore awarded. As of Ap
ril 30, 2026, a total of 7,427 cases remain pending in district courts.
He also announced a special legal awareness and health check-up camp for the Banjara community on May 30 at the community hall in Shimoga city, along with government departmental stalls to provide information on welfare schemes.
Special Lok Adalats for cheque bounce cases will also be held on July 18 and November 21 to ensure swift settlement through mutual consent. He urged citizens to participate actively and benefit from these legal services.
