BELEK
Indian golfer Yuvraj Sandhu made a splash on the global stage, delivering a brilliant opening performance at the Turkish Airlines Open in Antalya. Playing in his debut season on the DP World Tour, Sandhu carded a 3-under 69, ending the first day of competition comfortably tucked inside the top 10.
Sandhu’s round at the National Golf Club was a true test of character. After a rocky start on his back nine, where he suffered back-to-back bogeys, he found his rhythm under the Turkish sun. He showed great resilience by firing four birdies during his final nine holes to surge up the leaderboard. His steady play has placed him within striking distance of the leaders as the tournament moves into the weekend.
Meanwhile, fellow Indian star Shubhankar Sharma also stayed in the hunt. Sharma finished the day with a solid 2-under 70, highlighted by an exciting eagle, leaving him tied for 22nd place. Currently, Sweden’s Mikael Lindberg holds the top spot after an incredible bogey-free round of 66. Lindberg is chasing a top-three finish this week to qualify for the prestigious US PGA Championship.
The strong start by the Indian duo has captured the attention of fans back home. With Sandhu proving he can compete with the world’s best and Sharma’s veteran experience keeping him close, the leaderboard is set for a thrilling battle. As the sun sets on Belek, all eyes remain on Sandhu to see if he can maintain this momentum.
