Gujarat star Rashid Khan urged his teammates to ignore middle-order criticism and focus on their world-class bowling strengths.
AHMEDABAD
Star spinner Rashid Khan believes focusing on a weak middle order only hurts the Gujarat Titans. While experts point to the team’s struggling batters, Rashid insists that dwelling on flaws distracts the squad from winning matches and maintaining their competitive edge.
The Titans have leaned heavily on top-order stars like Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler this season. When they fail, the middle order often crumbles. However, Rashid argues that every team in the league has a hole in their lineup. Instead of worrying, he wants every player to make the most of the few balls they face. He noted that even a quick 20 runs can change a game’s result.
Rashid’s philosophy is simple, play to your strengths. For Gujarat, that strength is world-class bowling. By keeping the opposition to a low score, the pressure on the hitters naturally decreases. Rashid led by example in the recent win against Bengaluru, taking two wickets for just 19 runs. His disciplined bowling helped bowl the opponents out for 155, a target the Titans chased down with ease.
The Afghan leg-spinner explained that his success comes from hitting the right length consistently rather than worrying about the scoreboard. By focusing on his own job and trusting his teammates, he hopes to keep the Titans on the winning path. For Rashid, the secret to success is staying positive and ignoring the critics who only want to talk about what is going wrong.
