Pak missile strike on varsity injures 30

KABUL

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Higher Education issued a scathing condemnation following a Pakistani military missile strike on Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan University. The attack, which occurred in the eastern Kunar province, reportedly injured nearly thirty students and professors while leaving the campus infrastructure in ruins.

The Ministry described the strike as a “cowardly and ruthless” act that violates both Islamic principles and international law. Officials argued that the barrage was not just a military action, but a direct assault on the fundamental foundations of Afghan education. Higher Education Minister Neda Mohammad Nadeem has since ordered immediate medical priority for the victims and vowed to use all available resources to protect academic and religious institutions.

Independent monitors, including the International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF), reported even higher casualty figures, suggesting up to 48 people were affected. Witnesses described a scene of total chaos as missiles struck while classes were in session, sending students running for cover. Reports from local hospitals indicate that the wounded include a significant number of women and children from nearby residential areas that were also hit.

Human rights groups are now calling for an urgent independent investigation into the incident. Under international humanitarian law, educational institutions are strictly protected, and deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure are prohibited. This latest strike marks a troubling escalation in cross-border violence, leaving the local community in mourning and raising serious questions about the safety of students caught in the crossfire of regional tensions.
