GADAG
A meeting of the Toll Collection Monitoring Committee was held at the District Collector’s Office in Gadag under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Duragesh K.R. to review compliance in collecting and remitting toll-related funds.
During the meeting, Dr. Duragesh K.R. directed all departments, local bodies, and Panchayat Raj institutions to ensure that the mandatory 1% contribution to the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board is properly collected and deposited without delay.
He stressed that if any government department or public authority fails to remit the deducted amount, strict corrective action must be taken to ensure compliance. He also instructed that a review meeting on the issue should be conducted every month to monitor progress.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner explained that for all government construction works, 1% of the payment must be collected at source and forwarded to the welfare board. He added that in cases where urban local bodies approve building plans or construction permits, the same 1% fee must be collected at the time of approval and transferred accordingly.
He further directed officials to carefully examine all building approvals and permits issued by urban bodies and Panchayat institutions to ensure proper collection and transfer of funds to the welfare board.
Officials present at the meeting included Chief Planning Officer A.A. Kambalimath, Urban Development Cell Project Director Basana Gowda Kotur, and District Child Labour Elimination Project Director Sandesh Patil.
Labour Department officer Srishaila Somanakatti welcomed the participants and concluded the session.
The meeting emphasized tighter monitoring and transparency in fund collection to support welfare schemes for construction workers.
