Speaking at a preparatory meeting held on April 19 at Chitpady in Udupi, Vishwa Devadiga Mahamandala president Dharmapal U Devadiga stressed that internal solidarity is crucial for the overall progress of the community. He stated that only a united and strong community can achieve meaningful growth in education, social development, and economic advancement.

Dharmapal Devadiga highlighted that the strength of an organisation should not merely be measured by its visibility, but by its ability to function effectively and represent the interests of its members. He noted that when an organisation becomes strong in structure and purpose, it is better positioned to attract the attention of the government and secure rightful benefits and facilities. He added that the upliftment of society becomes easier when the community itself is empowered, which is the primary objective behind organising the Devadiga Mahadhiveshan.

The convention is scheduled to take place on December 20, 2026, at the Sri Ekanatheshwari Sabhabhavan of the Devadiga Sangha in Udupi. During the meeting, Dharmapal Devadiga elaborated on the key objectives of the event and actively engaged with members by responding to various suggestions and discussions.

Honorary general secretary Hiriyadka Mohandas presented a proposal outlining plans for the convention. He said that efforts would be made to invite the Chief Minister of Karnataka, along with ministers and public representatives, to ensure that the concerns of the Devadiga community are brought to the forefront.

Senior member K Annayya Sherigar emphasised the need to highlight key issues affecting the community, particularly the demand for the establishment of a Devadiga Development Corporation. Meanwhile, Dr Praveen Kumar Devadiga, a professor at MAHE Manipal, suggested that accomplished individuals from the community across various fields should be identified and invited to participate in the convention.

Udupi Devadiga Seva Sangha president Ratnakar G S assured full support for the success of the event and informed that two grounds at Chitpady have already been reserved for the convention. Aluru Raghuram Devadiga highlighted the importance of bringing out a commemorative souvenir and offered to host the next preparatory meeting in Byndoor.

Several other community leaders and representatives also shared their views, expressing commitment to making the Devadiga Mahadhiveshan a significant and impactful gathering for the community.
