As part of the annual J. Tontadarya Jatra Mahotsava, an awareness walk promoting an addiction-free society was organized in Okkalageri. The walk began at Rachoteswara Temple and passed through the main streets of the town.
During the march, participants, led by Pujyashri J.D. Siddarama Mahaswamy, collected liquor pouches, gutka packets, and tobacco products, pledging to remove such items from their community. Devotees also offered blessings and took oaths to lead a healthier, substance-free life.
The event was attended by religious leaders, including Pujyashri Basavamahanta Swami, Pujyashri Shantaliga, and elders such as Kotrappa Kamatara, M.A. Hiremath, among others. Women decorated streets with rangoli and distributed nutritious food to participants before the walk.
Organizers including Jatra Chairman Vinayak Manvi and Vice President Shivayya Nalvathvada ensured the program promoted health awareness and community participation throughout the festival.
