Belthangady:
The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has expressed deep outrage over a shocking incident in Ujire involving the abduction and severe beating of an underage Muslim boy, followed by threats that allegedly pushed him toward attempting suicide. The organisation described the episode as extremely cruel, devoid of humanity, and a direct challenge to law and order.
According to SDPI Mangaluru Rural District Secretary Nawaz Katte, the boy had gone with friends to attend a religious programme when he was singled out on the basis of his religion and subjected to a planned assault.
This act, he said, reflects organised hate politics at work. Certain activists associated with the SanghParivar are reportedly engaging in what is termed “immoral policing,” taking the law into their own hands and committing atrocities against innocent youths—a practice SDPI finds utterly reprehensible.
The attackers allegedly kidnapped the minor, took him to an isolated spot, beat him mercilessly in a group, and then issued life threats to coerce him into taking his own life. SDPI stressed that such grave offences cannot be treated lightly under any circumstances.
The party has urged the authorities to arrest the named accused—Gaurav Shetty, Ramesh, and all others connected—without delay and impose the strictest possible legal measures. Beyond individual culprits, SDPI called for a thorough probe to identify and completely suppress the forces orchestrating these coordinated attacks.
Highlighting the rising trend of “immoral policing” incidents across the state, SDPI demanded that the government treat the matter with utmost seriousness and ensure the safety of minors and minority communities. Failure to firmly curb the growing tendency of private groups usurping legal authority could lead to widespread fear and unrest in society, the SDPI press release warned.
SDPI has vehemently condemned this inhumane act and vowed to continue the struggle until justice is fully delivered to the affected boy, as stated by Nawaz Katte in the official press release.
