Jana Nayagan Censor Delay Grows After CBFC Letter Leak

Actor Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan is facing a delay after a leaked letter from the Central Board of Film Certification raised serious questions about the censor process. The film is directed by H Vinoth and had earlier cleared the Examining Committee stage of certification.

According to the leaked letter dated December 22, 2025, the CBFC had granted the film a U/A 16+ certificate with certain cuts. The letter also said the film could be released once the changes were verified and reminded parents to restrict underage viewers.

Sources said the makers accepted all the suggested modifications and completed them as instructed by the board. However, an internal objection by a board member later stalled the process, citing concerns over religious harmony.

The sudden change placed the film in uncertainty and upset fans, as Jana Nayagan is seen as Vijay’s final film before his political entry. Producer K Venkat Narayana first approached the High Court seeking clarity and timely certification.

Reports now suggest the producer may withdraw the case and approach the CBFC Revising Committee instead of continuing legal action. The leaked letter has sparked online debate and renewed focus on ongoing tensions between filmmakers and the censor board.

With the matter still under judicial review, the release date remains uncertain, leaving audiences and Vijay fans waiting anxiously for official confirmation from authorities and certification officials in the coming weeks ahead amid continued public interest and discussion.
