Deputy Commissioner Ikram Sharief interacted with students of residential schools in the district through Google Meet and sought direct feedback on the quality of food and basic infrastructure available at the institutions.
Sharief interacted with students of Classes 6 to 10 from around 15 selected residential schools functioning under the Social Welfare, Minority Welfare and Backward Classes Welfare departments. He enquired about the quality and regularity of breakfast, lunch and dinner and listened to the students’ grievances. The students highlighted several issues, including non-functional solar systems, the need for RO plants for safe drinking water, lack of compound walls causing security concerns and the need for library facilities in residential hostels.
Speaking to the students, the DC assured them that cleanliness on school premises and in the surrounding areas would be given attention. Providing quality food to you is our responsibility. You need not worry about it, he said. The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials concerned to immediately prepare a comprehensive list of infrastructure requirements raised by the students, including benches, electrical repairs, building repairs and RO plants. He said, the requirements would be met through Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) grants or departmental funds.
Social Welfare Department Joint Director Preethi Doddamani, District Minority Welfare Officer and in-charge BCM Officer Sangamesh, and other officials participated in the Google Meet.
