A young woman was brutally stabbed to death near Kolar following prolonged arguments, triggering swift action by locals.

In a shocking incident reported from the outskirts of Kolar on Thursday morning, a youngster allegedly stabbed his lover to death following repeated arguments over the past few days. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising concerns over rising crimes linked to personal disputes.
The accused has been identified as Chiranjeevi, a resident of Yelaburgi village in Bangarpet taluk. The victim, Sujatha (27), hailed from Dasarahosahalli and was employed at the Narasapura Industrial Estate, where she worked in a private unit.
According to preliminary information, associates and acquaintances of the couple had noticed frequent arguments between them over the last few days. These disagreements reportedly intensified, culminating in the fatal attack on Thursday morning. Police sources said that Sujatha was on her way to work when Chiranjeevi allegedly intercepted her on Bangarpet Road and stabbed her with a knife. She succumbed to her injuries on the spot, before any medical help could be provided.
The incident was witnessed by locals, who immediately intervened and managed to apprehend the accused at the scene. Demonstrating presence of mind, they restrained Chiranjeevi and handed him over to the Kolar Town Police.
Senior police officers rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and cordoned off the area. The body was shifted for post-mortem examination, while a case of murder has been registered. Investigators are questioning the accused to ascertain the exact motive behind the crime and to determine whether there were any prior complaints or threats reported.
Police officials stated that further investigation is underway and additional details will emerge after completing the preliminary inquiry. The incident has once again highlighted the need for timely intervention and counselling in cases of relationship-related disputes, residents said, urging authorities to strengthen awareness and support mechanisms.
