Manchester City Women extend Codie Thomas’ contract until 2027

Thomas commits to her childhood club as City eyes future success

Manchester

Manchester City Women have confirmed that defender Codie Thomas has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping her at the club until the summer of 2027. The announcement marks another step forward for the 20-year-old, who has steadily risen through the academy ranks to become a promising talent in the senior squad.

Thomas, who first joined City in 2016, made her first-team debut in October 2024 at just 18 years old, starting at right back during a UEFA Women’s Champions League victory away to St. Pölten. She went on to feature in the Women’s Super League against Leicester City and later appeared again in the reverse fixture against St. Pölten in December.

Just a week before that December clash, Thomas signed her first professional contract alongside close friend and teammate Lily Murphy. Despite an injury at the start of 2025 that limited her appearances, she made her return in time to represent City at the inaugural World Sevens tournament in Portugal, proudly donning the colors of her childhood club.

Sharing her excitement about the extension, Thomas said, “It’s amazing to sign a contract extension. With City being such a big club, it’s where I want to be — a place where I can learn and develop, on and off the pitch. Since I’ve been a little girl, I’ve watched City, been at City, and this is truly a dream come true. The environment challenges you every day and helps you grow in every aspect of life.”
