Take Precautionary Measures in Rain-Affected Areas: DC

“The district has been experiencing heavy rainfall during the ongoing monsoon season, and priority should be given to ensuring public safety in rain-affected areas by implementing necessary precautionary measures,” said Deputy Commissioner CN Sridhar.
Speaking at the District Disaster Management Authority meeting held on Tuesday at the Gadag District Commissioner’s office hall, he emphasized that all officials must remain fully prepared to manage flood situations efficiently. He directed that precautionary steps be taken to prevent damage to public property caused by incessant rains. In the event of heavy downpours, officials must immediately visit the affected areas and take swift action to control the situation. A total of 43 flood-prone villages have been identified, and officials concerned should maintain constant vigilance to avert any loss of life.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. KR Duragesh stressed that all departments should be well-prepared to handle flood situations. He suggested that Task Force Committee meetings be held regularly at the taluk level, and reports be submitted promptly to the district administration.
Sub-Divisional Officer M. Gangappa stated that adequate preparations have already been made to face flood challenges, assuring that no loss of human life or damage to livestock would occur due to the ongoing rains.
The meeting was attended by Urban Development Cell Project Director Basanagowda Kotur, Horticulture Department Deputy Director Shashikantha Kotimani, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. SS Neelgund, and School Education Department Deputy Director RS Burudi.
Providing rainfall statistics, Joint Director of Agriculture GH Taramani informed that the district has recorded 326 mm of normal rainfall from January to August 25, reaching 477 mm, which is 46 percent above average.
