Rajanna is close to me I made him Apex Bank chairman: DKS

Bengaluru

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday described former minister KN Rajanna as a close associate and recalled that he had appointed him as Apex Bank chairman during his tenure in the SM Krishna government. Responding to questions about Rajanna’s recent visit, Shivakumar said the former minister is their legislative colleague and they have shared cordial relations over the years. He noted that he will meet Rajanna again after the Raj Bhavan event, as they could not complete their discussion yesterday.

Clarifying political speculations, Shivakumar emphasized that the meeting was not for political support or any controversy. “We have worked together as colleagues in the government and party. There is no difference of opinion between us,” he said, adding that media often exaggerates such interactions.

Shivakumar also underlined his long-standing professional rapport with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, describing their collaboration as brotherly. He asserted that his focus remains on governance and party responsibilities, and that he has never made statements against anyone personally.

On other political matters, including letters to VR Sudarshan Kharge or comments on Parameshwar, Shivakumar clarified there is no confusion or controversy, noting that he continuously coordinates with the party high command and values public trust.

Speaking to the media about his recent meeting with Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Rajanna said the discussion was solely about party organization and did not influence his loyalty. “No matter what DK Shivakumar attempts, my stand hasn’t changed. He also noted that social visits, such as attending meals with colleagues in Belagavi, are acts of courtesy and not political moves.
