Karnataka’s Planning and Statistics Minister and Chitradurga District In-charge Minister D. Sudhakar said that a new district administrative building will be constructed in Chitradurga keeping public interest and convenience as the top priority. He stated that the proposal to hand over the newly constructed Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office building near the Kunchiganal valley to the Chitradurga Medical College is currently at the government approval stage.
Addressing a meeting held at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi, Minister Sudhakar said that in view of public convenience, the government has planned to construct a new district administration complex at the existing DC’s residence premises and surrounding areas. The meeting was convened to discuss the proposal to allocate land belonging to the Horticulture Department, adjacent to the DC’s residence, for the construction of the new Deputy Commissioner’s office building.
The minister explained that the new DC office project envisages utilisation of the DC’s residence land along with the adjoining Horticulture Department land. He said that if the Horticulture Department agrees to provide its six-acre land for the project, the government will allot alternative land to the department at another location. In addition, the required basic infrastructure facilities will be provided to the Horticulture Department, and adequate space will be earmarked for its office within the new district administrative complex. Responding to the proposal, Horticulture Department Director Dr Girish said that the matter would be discussed with the departmental secretary. He pointed out that the authority to allot government land rests with a committee headed by the Chief Secretary. He assured that if a proper proposal is submitted by the Deputy Commissioner, necessary steps would be taken keeping public interest in mind.
