Alok Kumar, the new Director General of Police of the State Prisons and Correctional Services Department, has warned that if the officers do a good job in the prison department, their rank does not matter to me and I consider them as friends. However, officers who are intentionally involved in illegal activities will have to be treated differently.

He has been appointed as the State Director General of Police, Prisons and Correctional Services Department and assumed office today at his office on Seshadri Road.

Speaking on the occasion, Alok Kumar said, I have previously visited various prisons in the state, including Bailahongala. I have also raided and inspected the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison many times in the past. Some reforms are also important in this department. We will hold consultations with the officials, understand the problems properly and take further steps.

Every officer and staff in the department is important, and only they can control irregularities. Those who do good work are always encouraged. But those who do wrong will be punished. Sometimes I will not be too strict with small unintentional mistakes. But I will not tolerate intentional involvement in irregularities, warned Alok Kumar.

The state government on Wednesday promoted Alok Kumar, who was the Additional Director General of Police, State Police Training Centre, and transferred him as the State Director General of Police, Prisons and Correctional Services Department. Jail officials conducted an inspection at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail on Tuesday night and found prohibited items. During this, 14 mobile phones, 9 SIM cards, 5 mobile phone chargers, 2 earphones, and 10 different types of knives were found. In total, 67 mobile phones, 14 chargers, 48 ​​SIM cards, 10 earphones, Rs. 60,880 in cash, and 10 sharp weapons have been found so far, and a total of 6 cases have been registered, according to prison sources.
