Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much-awaited film Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is set for a powerful opening as early box office numbers show strong momentum. The film, releasing tomorrow after a brief delay due to financial issues, has already crossed USD 250,000 in North America presales and is likely to surpass USD 350,000 before the premiere screenings begin. Advance ticket bookings in India are also progressing well, pointing to a strong first-day performance.
Akhanda 2 is the sequel to Balakrishna’s 2021 blockbuster Akhanda and brings back his popular Aghora warrior character. Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, the film features Balakrishna in a dual role and follows his intense spiritual battle against dark forces in the Himalayan region. The cast also includes Samyuktha, Aadhi Pinisetty, and child actor Harshali Malhotra in important roles.
Early reactions from international premiere shows have already flooded social media. Many viewers have praised the actor’s commanding performance, powerful dialogues, and the dramatic presentation. Some users on X described the introduction sequence as excellent and hailed Balakrishna as the God of Masses. The excitement around Akhanda 2 has also caused changes in the release schedules of several films. The Telugu movie Mowgli, originally planned for a December 12 release, has shifted to December 13. Rana Daggubati-backed Psych Siddhartha will now release on January 1, while the makers of Sahakutumbaanaam have postponed their film to December 19.
With strong momentum, fan support, and early positive talk, Akhanda 2 is expected to make a grand impact at the box office.
