The Karnataka Mining Environment Restoration Corporation (KMERCL) held a progress review meeting on Monday, chaired by Managing Director Dr. Sanjay S. Bijjoor, focusing on ongoing projects under the CEPMIZED scheme in mining-affected taluks. Dr. Bijjoor emphasized the need for strict monitoring of the supplementary nutrition program for students in government primary and high schools, which has been implemented over the past month. He urged officials from the School Education and PM Poshan departments to ensure timely and flawless delivery of nutritious meals, highlighting their importance for children’s physical and mental development.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing construction and development projects, including health centers and student hostels. Dr. Bijjoor expressed dissatisfaction over delays in building health centers, some pending for two years, and directed rapid completion to provide quality healthcare. Information was shared on ongoing projects across Holalkere, Chitradurga, Hosadurga, and Molakalmuru taluks, including multiple health centers and staff quarters, with instructions to expedite work.
Officials were instructed to complete school building projects promptly, ensuring no duplication of work and following proper approval procedures. For housing projects, beneficiaries will be selected based on the 2018 survey of homeless residents, with village-level approvals submitted to the district committee. All procedural guidelines are available on the KMERCL website and must be strictly followed.
District officials, including DC T. Venkatesh, ZP CEO Dr. S. Akash, Chief Project Officer C.S. Gayatri, Deputy Forest Conservator Gopyanayak, and other departmental officers attended, discussing project monitoring, fund utilization, and timely completion strategies to ensure sustainable development and welfare in mining-affected areas.
