FIFA World Cup 2026 draw set for December

New Delhi

The Final Draw for the FIFA World Cup 2026 will take place on December 5 at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. This major event will reveal the group-stage fixtures for the biggest World Cup ever, featuring 48 teams and hosted across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino made the announcement at the White House. The draw is a key milestone ahead of the expanded tournament, with fans, team officials, and global media expected to attend.

The Kennedy Center, a famous cultural venue, will host representatives from all 16 Host Cities. The World Cup Trophy will also be on display during the event. The opening matches for host nations are already confirmed: the U.S. (D1), Mexico (A1), and Canada (B1).

So far, 13 teams have qualified, including Argentina, Jordan, and Uzbekistan. The final two spots will be decided in a special play-off in March 2026. By draw day, 42 of the 48 teams will be confirmed.

For the first time, fans from Host Cities will get free entry through a lottery system, with chances to win VIP access—bringing supporters closer to the World Cup journey.
