The Winter Session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly is scheduled to begin on December 18 and will run until December 21. The session will be held at Tapovan in Dharamsala, Kangra district. Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania confirmed that the session’s proposal has been sent to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla for approval. The notification for the session will be issued once the Governor gives his consent.

Pathania, who recently returned from a foreign tour, has already instructed the Kangra Deputy Commissioner to begin preparations for the session. He also plans to visit Kangra soon to review the arrangements.

The main opposition party, BJP, is expected to raise several issues, including the toilet tax, the closure of Tourism Development Corporation hotels, and the government’s failure to fulfill its election promises. Last year, the Winter Session included five meetings, but this year, only four are planned. In 2023, the session was held from December 19 to 23, with high productivity, including 471 questions raised by members.
