An incident in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district claimed the lives of a father and son when two LPG cylinders exploded at a restaurant early Monday morning. The victims, identified as Kishan Kumar Jhunjhunwala and his son Prasun alias Kanhaiya, were trying to extinguish a fire at the restaurant in the Kharmanchak area near Nagarmal Mall when the cylinders erupted.
The explosion occurred around 5 a.m., causing panic among residents. Neighbours rushed the injured duo to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital, but they succumbed to their injuries. Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames and back-to-back explosions, with one victim thrown several feet away.
Police suspect an electrical short circuit sparked the fire, which escalated quickly. CCTV footage shows smoke and flames engulfing the building. Authorities have recovered the bodies for post-mortem and launched an investigation.
