A suicide bombing occurred near a police van in the Akhun Dheri area of Charsadda, Pakistan, on Thursday morning. According to police officials, the attacker detonated the bomb close to the police vehicle, but fortunately, neither the van nor the officers on duty were harmed. No civilians were injured either, as the area was not crowded at the time of the explosion.
The bomb went off shortly after the police van had passed by, with the blast being heard over a wide area. This prompted a swift response from local law enforcement, who arrived at the scene to investigate the incident further.
The attack follows a troubling rise in terrorist activity in Pakistan, especially since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021. Earlier this year, a similar suicide bombing on October 26 in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali Tehsil claimed the lives of at least eight people, including four policemen, when a police post in the Eidak area was targeted.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the blast site in Charsadda and began an investigation into the attack. Authorities continue to be on high alert due to the rising incidents of terrorism in the region.
