Allegations of misconduct have emerged in the Kallughatta Gram Panchayat, involving multiple officials, as discussed in a meeting attended by Ms. Amrita, Assistant Director and nodal officer. In the press conference on Wednesday the Executive Officer (EO) has raised concerns over suspected irregularities and lack of cooperation from key officials, including the Panchayat president and the Panchayat Development Officer (PDO).
A letter dated July 9, 2024, indicates potential misuse of Panchayat funds for personal benefits. According to claims, Srinivas Thotanahalli, a Panchayat member, was paid with three checks from Gram Panchayat accounts by the PDO, Geethamani, and President Soumya, allegedly for stone supplies to a house under construction in Kempalinganahalli. This construction reportedly involved approximately 23 tractor loads of materials, which may have been funded by Panchayat resources.
Further accusations suggest that revenue was collected under benami names, with suspicions of an unauthorized account linked to the PDO. The president’s husband, Anjinamurthy, is also said to have exerted undue influence over Panchayat decisions and records. Evidence including videos, photos, and audio recordings have reportedly been submitted to various departments for investigation.
Local authorities are urged to look into these claims and ensure transparency within the Panchayat administration.
