The Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) has announced that term-end 1st PU examinations will be conducted by individual colleges. The DPUE will soon release a model question paper resembling the Second Year Pre-University format, said Sindhu B Rupesh, Director of Department of Pre-University Education.
Earlier, DPUE prepared question papers for the entire state, and examinations were conducted based on them in every district. However, it changed the rule from this academic year and asked the respective colleges to conduct the examination by preparing their question papers.
We have already communicated the same to the DDPUs of the districts, and they will follow it from this academic year. Meanwhile, the department will also release the model question papers for First Pre-University, said Rupesh.
Jayanand N Suvarna, President of the Dakshina Kannada Pre-University Colleges Principals’ Association, said that last academic year, preparatory examinations were conducted by preparing question papers at the college level. Though until last academic year question papers were provided by the DPUE, the rest of the formalities were done by each district, including evaluation. The new arrangement will help in the smooth conduct of the examination, he said.
Meanwhile, the ongoing Pre-University mid-term for First Year Pre-University is conducted based on the Second Year Pre-University question paper model, which was introduced this academic year. There was no clarification from DPUE on how the first Pre-University model question paper should be. As a result, we are now following the second-year model question paper for First Pre-University. We request the department to clarify the same at the earliest, said a College Principal.
