LG Sinha reviews Kashmir’s security after Gagangir terror attack

Days after a terrorist attack in Gagangir that claimed seven lives, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha convened a meeting on Wednesday to assess the security situation in the Kashmir Division. Key officials attended, including the Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat, and various other police leaders.

During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor urged J&K Police to implement strict security measures around critical infrastructure projects and construction sites to protect workers. He emphasized the importance of regular coordination meetings with project agencies to enhance safety.

Sinha directed police to carry out security audits of infrastructure projects, maintain round-the-clock checkpoints at key locations, and increase night patrols. He stressed the need for a strong security and intelligence network, alongside coordinated operations with the Army and other security forces to combat terrorism effectively.

Earlier, Sinha visited Gagangir to meet with project officials and assess security measures at the site. He highlighted the urgency of strengthening security grids to prevent further incidents, ensuring the safety of all workers and officers involved in vital projects. The Lieutenant Governor underscored the need for tighter access controls and consistent patrolling, as well as proactive counter-terrorism efforts to eliminate threats in J&K.
