The Akhila Karnataka Raja Kesari Trust, a social welfare organisation, has initiated the Swachhalaya campaign through its Dakshina Kannada district unit to clean toilets in the government schools.
The campaign’s objective is to clean the toilets of all government primary and higher primary schools in the district through voluntary services, emphasising the promotion of health, hygiene and rights of students studying in these schools.
Santosh Kolya, the District unit President of the trust, stated, along with cleaning toilets in about 1,000 schools in the district, we will also repair and renovate them, if necessary, at our own expense. Currently, the toilets in Hoige Bazaar, Sutarpete and Kavoor primary schools were transformed into clean toilets. More than 10 people set aside their other works to carry out this work.
The trust already brought to the notice of Deputy Commissioner MP Mullai Muhilan about the Swachhalaya campaign being carried out in Dakshina Kannada. Zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer K Anandh, officials from the education department, Trust founder President Deepak G Belthangady, elected representatives, alumni associations, PTA members and others will participate in the programme, he said.
