Austin

Lando Norris grabbed pole position for the United States Grand Prix on Saturday night, delivering a superb qualifying lap of 1:32.330 in Q3. The McLaren driver’s time remained unbeaten after a dramatic crash by George Russell brought the session to an early end. Russell’s incident at Turn 19 triggered double yellow flags, preventing other drivers from improving their times. The Mercedes driver walked away unhurt and will start from sixth.

Norris edged out Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by just 0.031 seconds, securing his pole spot. Carlos Sainz of Ferrari claimed third place, while his teammate Charles Leclerc took fourth. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri secured fifth, followed by Russell in sixth.

Alpine’s Pierre Gasly impressed with a seventh-place finish, while Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso qualified eighth. Kevin Magnussen made his first Q3 appearance of the season for Haas, taking ninth, while Red Bull’s Sergio Perez settled for 10th after his initial lap time was deleted due to track limits.

Lewis Hamilton faced a challenging session, qualifying 19th after a disappointing middle sector during Q1, unable to improve before the session ended. Williams’ Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto, along with Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, joined him at the back of the grid.
