CM calls for collective pledge to realise a self-reliant state

Dehradun

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday extended warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of the 25th Foundation Day and called upon them to take a collective pledge to transform Uttarakhand into a harmonious, strong, and self-reliant state.

Uttarakhand, popularly known as Devbhoomi (the land of Gods), was carved out of Uttar Pradesh on November 9, 2000, becoming India’s 27th state. The Foundation Day marks not just the birth of a new state but the culmination of a people’s movement that envisioned a model of inclusive growth and balanced development.

In a heartfelt video message, CM Dhami said, It is a matter of immense pride that in the last 25 years, Devbhoomi Uttarakhand has achieved significant milestones in health, education, tourism, culture, environmental conservation, and employment. The progress we see today is the result of the determination of our people.

He expressed gratitude to the thousands of protestors whose sacrifices led to the creation of the state. Highlighting Uttarakhand’s deep cultural roots, Dhami added, Our hardworking, god-like people have proved that this land is one of infinite possibilities — a land of liberation and wisdom.

Marking the Silver Jubilee celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Dehradun to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over ₹8,140 crore. These include projects worth ₹930 crore being inaugurated and new initiatives worth ₹7,210 crore across sectors like irrigation, drinking water, energy, urban development, and technical education.

PM Modi will also transfer ₹62 crore directly to more than 28,000 farmers under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, further strengthening Uttarakhand’s vision of sustainable and inclusive development.
