BLDE University has stepped in to assist seven underprivileged students by covering their medical fees, enabling them to attend government colleges. These students, hailing from families of migrant and landless laborers, benefited from the university’s initiative, which provided financial support ranging from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh, under the leadership of Chancellor MB Patil.

Raghavendra V Kulkarni, the BLDE Deemed to be University Registrar, explained that the university actively seeks out stories of deserving candidates from humble backgrounds through newspapers. Additionally, nominations and applications are accepted from students or on their behalf. After a thorough review, a team is assigned to verify the credentials of candidates who have secured medical seats under the government quota. The criteria for selection are based solely on poverty and background.

Basanagouda Patil, Director of the BLDE Association, emphasized that the university carefully checks applications to compile a list of eligible candidates. This initiative, funded by the BLDE Association since 2022, has already supported 23 students. This year, seven students were chosen, including Vishal Koregaon, Karan Sindhe, Yeshvant Mohite, Ajith Rathod, Rajashri Math, Yamanappa Madar, and Sridhar Kalyani.Kalavati Kalyani, mother of Sridhar Kalyani, expressed her gratitude, stating that she felt lost when her son secured an MBBS seat at Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences after passing NEET. Thanks to BLDE University, his first year’s tuition, hostel, and mess fees of Rs 1.2 lakh have been covered, and they have assured support for all four years.
