India contributes to Nepal PM Disaster Relief Fund to support victims of floods, landslides

Contributions to Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund increased on Saturday as additional support was provided by Oriental Insurance Company Ltd from India, LIC Nepal Ltd, and Nepal SBI Bank Ltd. These contributions are aimed at aiding victims of the recent floods and landslides in the country.

The Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, conveyed condolences to Nepal on behalf of the Government of India. He reiterated India’s commitment to assisting in relief and reconstruction efforts following the disaster. Srivastava also shared a message from PM +Modi to Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, expressing solidarity with the people of Nepal during this challenging time. India has pledged to provide any necessary assistance for relief and rebuilding efforts.

Heavy rainfall, which began in late September, has caused widespread flooding and landslides across several regions of Nepal. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has issued warnings of further heavy rains in Bagmati and Koshi regions and urged residents to take precautions.

The disaster has resulted in a death toll of 241, with 29 people still missing, according to the Armed Police Force (APF). Efforts are ongoing to locate the missing and provide relief to the affected areas. The contributions from these institutions aim to assist in the ongoing recovery and support for those impacted by the disaster.
