Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his son, Cabinet Minister Nara Lokesh, expressed their approval of the Supreme Court’s decision on Friday to initiate a CBI-monitored investigation into the alleged adulteration of the Tirupati laddu. Naidu shared his thoughts on X, stating, I welcome the Honourable Supreme Court’s order to set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising officers from the CBI, AP Police, and FSSAI to investigate the issue of adulteration. He added, Satyamev Jayate, Om Namo Venkatesaya.

Nara Lokesh also praised the court’s ruling, emphasizing that it would bolster the ongoing investigation. He remarked, I welcome the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s decision to enhance the investigation with support from national agencies like CBI and FSSAI, which will help identify those responsible for the adulteration of the sacred laddu. Truth will prevail.

This new SIT will replace the one established by the state government. Following the Supreme Court’s order on September 30, the Andhra Pradesh Police had temporarily halted the SIT’s investigation. The court had advised the SIT to pause its activities until October 3. Additionally, it criticized Chief Minister Naidu for making public statements without solid evidence regarding the use of animal fat in the laddu preparation during the previous regime. The YSR Congress Party had previously dismissed Naidu’s allegations as unfounded.
