An encounter occurred between security forces and terrorists in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday. According to police reports, the operation was initiated following specific intelligence regarding the terrorists’ presence. Security forces launched a joint search operation in Chatroo Kishtwar, establishing contact with the terrorists, resulting in gunfire from both sides.

This operation is part of a broader trend of increased encounters between terrorists and security forces throughout Jammu and Kashmir. Many terrorists and their leaders have been neutralized in these confrontations, but security forces have also faced casualties. Initially concentrated in Poonch and Rajouri, terrorist activities are now expanding into other previously secure regions of Jammu, including the Chenab Valley, Udhampur, and Kathua.

The rise in sophisticated weaponry, including grenades and M4 assault rifles, has raised concerns about the threat level. This escalation has led to political criticism and calls for enhanced security measures from the public. Over the past few years, the Pir Panjal region, which separates the Kashmir Valley from Jammu, has seen a surge in militant activity. Continuous anti-terror operations in Kashmir have forced terrorists into the mountains, where they await opportunities to attack security forces.
