Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi has been charged for allegedly assaulting a Delhi Jal Board (DJB) employee at a sewage pumping station in Model Town, northwest Delhi, according to police reports on Thursday. The complaint was filed by 59-year-old Satpal Singh, a field assistant at the Kalyan Vihar Sewage Pumping Station, who reported the incident at the Model Town Police Station on Wednesday.

Singh stated in his complaint that while he was performing his duties, the MLA arrived at the station with a group of 20 to 25 people, inquiring about a malfunctioning pump. When Singh explained that the pump was operational, a heated argument broke out. During this confrontation, the MLA allegedly slapped Singh and assaulted him with his shoes.

Other staff members witnessed the altercation and helped Singh report the incident to the police. As a result, the police registered a case against Tripathi under several sections of the law, including obstructing a public servant and causing hurt to deter a public servant from performing their duty. This incident highlights the ongoing tensions between political figures and public service employees in the area.
