Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy accused former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of trying to harm the reputation of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the Tirupati Prasad adulteration issue. Reddy stated that ghee has been procured through a regular e-tendering process for decades, with tenders submitted every six months. The selection of suppliers is based on the price quoted for ghee.
In his letter, Reddy criticized Naidu, calling him a habitual liar whose claims undermine the beliefs of millions. Naidu recently alleged that the ghee used in Tirupati laddoo prasadam contained animal fat during Reddy’s government. The Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple is located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
Minister Nara Lokesh assured that action would be taken and announced that a policy will be created to prevent future issues. Lokesh cited a report indicating the presence of animal fat in the Tirupati Prasadam. He stated that the analysis by a government lab confirmed these findings.
Lokesh mentioned that further steps are necessary beyond a CBI inquiry to ensure this issue does not happen again. Structural changes will be announced by the Chief Minister to address the situation effectively.
