Rishabh Pant made a remarkable return to Test cricket by scoring a record-equalling century against Bangladesh in Chennai on Saturday. During the third day of the first Test at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Pant struck a commanding 109 runs off 128 balls, featuring 13 fours and four sixes.
This century marks Pant’s sixth in Test cricket, bringing him level with former captain MS Dhoni for the most Test hundreds by an Indian wicketkeeper. While Dhoni achieved his six centuries over a 90-match career, Pant reached the same milestone in just 34 Tests.
Pant accomplished this feat in 58 innings, compared to Dhoni’s 144 innings. This match is particularly significant for Pant as it is his comeback after more than 600 days, following a serious car accident in December 2022. His hard work and determination have now reintegrated him into the Indian team.
