Peshawar
A terror attack on a security check post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan resulted in the deaths of six security personnel and injuries to 11 others. The attack occurred during the night in Mishta village, located in the Ladha tehsil of South Waziristan district.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the assault. A group of militants targeted the security check post, leading to the casualties. A clearance operation is currently being conducted to neutralize the threat in the area.
This incident reflects the rising tensions in the region, with the TTP increasingly active and launching similar attacks on security forces. The Pakistani government has accused the TTP of having bases in Afghanistan, a claim that has been denied by the Afghan Taliban. Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021, incidents of terrorism in Pakistan have increased, undermining hopes for improved security collaboration.
The TTP was formed in 2007 as a coalition of various militant groups and has been officially labeled by the Pakistani government as a violent organization.
