India and Algeria have maintained a friendly relationship since establishing diplomatic ties in July 1962. The two countries have supported each other on various issues both bilaterally and internationally. High-level visits and meetings, such as the Joint Commission Mechanism (JCM) meetings and Foreign Office Consultations (FOC), have strengthened their partnership. The most recent JCM took place in Algiers in May 2015, led by Nirmala Sitharaman and Boudjema Talai.
