Vice President Kamala Harris appeared to dominate the second presidential debate against former President Donald Trump. The debate, held in Philadelphia, covered topics such as abortion, illegal immigration, and the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. Harris launched sharp criticisms at Trump, who struggled to stay on message. Harris called Trump a “disgrace” multiple times during the debate.
Both Harris and Trump are the official candidates of their respective parties after accepting their nominations earlier this year. The first debate had involved President Biden, but he later withdrew from the race and endorsed Harris.
Trump criticized the Biden-Harris administration on illegal migration and ongoing global conflicts. Harris defended her administration’s stance on Ukraine and Israel, while also addressing issues like abortion. Trump attempted to portray Harris as a far-left candidate, but she responded by questioning his fitness for office.
Trump accused Harris of wanting to confiscate guns, while Harris clarified that both she and her running mate, Tim Walz, are gun owners. The candidates also disagreed on how to handle the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.
The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5, with both candidates campaigning vigorously as the race continues to gain momentum.
