Pranjali Dhumal secured a bronze medal in the Women’s 25m Pistol event, bringing India’s medal count to 13 at the 2nd World Deaf Shooting Championship 2024 in Hanover, Germany. India has won three gold, six silver, and four bronze medals after four days of competition.
Pranjali qualified for the finals by setting a new deaf world record with a score of 571. In the finals, she hit three out of five shots in the eighth series, edging out Lana Skeledzija by a single point to claim the bronze with a final score of 29. Ukrainian shooters Sofiia Olenych and Halyna Mosina took gold and silver, respectively.
Anuya Prasad finished fifth with a score of 21 after qualifying with 558, while Vedika Sharma scored 473 in the qualification round. India’s 16-member squad has performed well at the Championship, which runs until September 7, 2024.
Earlier, Anuya Prasad won gold in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol. In the men’s 10m Air Pistol, Abhinav Deshwal earned silver, and Shubham Vashist won bronze, with both teaming up with Chetan Sakpal to secure the team silver. The team, which includes top shooters like Dhanush Srikanth, is supported by coaches Preeti Sharma (Pistol) and Sanjeev Rajput (Rifle), along with an interpreter. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) recently honored the Indian Olympic shooting team in a celebration held at ITC Maurya in New Delhi
