Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has directed all Deputy Commissioners and Tahsildars to implement a campaign for podi correction work using 1-5 forms starting September 2. The instruction was given during a meeting at Vikasa Soudha on Friday, which included Deputy Commissioners, Tahsildars, Revenue Inspectors, and other department officials.
The minister addressed the long-standing issue of approximately 10 lakh farmers who were allotted government land under an illegal scheme decades ago. Despite efforts by many farmers, only a few have successfully resolved their land issues, leaving most in difficult situations. Byre Gowda stressed the need for a permanent solution to these problems.
He described the farmers’ situation as ‘tri-cone,’ indicating that while land has been allotted, it has not been officially recorded in the RTC. Many farmers have faced significant difficulties navigating taluk and survey offices without resolution.
Previous efforts to correct these issues through paper files for 1-5 forms were insufficient due to missing or incomplete files. The revenue department has now begun creating digitized 1-5 files to address these problems more effectively.
