Praising the strong relationship between the US and India, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti highlighted the alignment of both nations’ perspectives on global issues. Speaking at the Annual IC3 Conference and Expo 2024 in Delhi, Garcetti remarked, Americans and Indians share similar views and our hearts are aligned. Our heads are aligned too, as we both advocate for a free and open Indo-Pacific, emphasizing democracy and human rights.
Garcetti also underscored the remarkable potential of US-India collaboration, citing a recent example of groundbreaking work in dengue fever research. He mentioned an American scientific breakthrough in creating a vaccine for all four dengue strains, which was shared with Indian companies. One of these companies is now advancing the vaccine through clinical trials, potentially leading to a life-saving solution in the near future.
The partnership between the US and India extends across various sectors, including defense and space. For instance, US Acting Assistant Secretary of Defence for Space Policy Vipin Narang and India’s Joint Secretary for International Cooperation Vishwesh Negi met for the second annual US-India Advanced Domains Defense Dialogue in Washington, DC. They explored ways to enhance space cooperation and collaborate with US industry.
In April, the Indo-US joint working group under the Defence Tech and Trade Initiative (DTTI) met in New Delhi to strengthen defense ties and explore co-production opportunities. Key officials from both nations discussed strategic plans to deepen their defense collaboration.
