EAM supports Brazil’s G20 Presidency

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Tuesday expressed India’s strong support for Brazil’s G20 Presidency during the 9th India-Brazil Joint Commission Meeting in Delhi. Jaishankar praised Brazil for its successful G20 leadership and the recent ministerial consensus document achieved at the G20 Development Working Group meeting. He emphasized India’s commitment to supporting Brazil’s presidency and acknowledged Brazil’s support during India’s own G20 tenure.

Jaishankar highlighted the recent growth in bilateral trade between India and Brazil and discussed the importance of their energy cooperation, particularly in biofuels. He also noted the increasing appreciation of Indian culture in Brazil, which strengthens the people-to-people ties between the two nations.

Reflecting on the strategic partnership established in 2006, Jaishankar remarked on its expansion into various fields, including defense, space, trade, energy, and culture. He expressed eagerness to discuss further multilateral cooperation within the G20 framework and other regional issues. Jaishankar also mentioned their collaborative work in BRICS, the UN, and the G4 group, reinforcing the strong bilateral and multilateral ties between India and Brazil.

EAM congratulates Moldovan counterpart on Independence Day

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Tuesday extended congratulations to Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi on Moldova’s Independence Day. In a message posted on X, Jaishankar expressed his good wishes to Popsoi and the Moldovan people, highlighting the growing friendship between the two countries.

India and Moldova have been strengthening their bilateral ties through high-level meetings, economic collaboration, and cultural exchanges. Moldova opened a Resident Mission in New Delhi in June 2023, marking a key step in deepening relations. Moldova has actively participated in various events in India, including the 3rd International SME Convention and the 6th Global Exhibition on Services.

Educational and capacity-building efforts, such as the ITEC Scholarship Program and diplomatic courses, have further strengthened the partnership. Cultural exchanges, including exhibitions and yoga celebrations, have enriched the relationship. These developments underscore a dynamic and expanding partnership between India and Moldova.
