Leicester City have agreed to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp in a deal reportedly worth close to £20 million. The transfer, accepted by Tottenham on Sunday, will see Skipp undergo his medical examination at the King Power Stadium ahead of the highly anticipated move.
Skipp will reunite with former Tottenham academy player Harry Winks at Leicester, who might become his midfield partner. Last season, Skipp played 24 matches for Spurs but was mainly used as a substitute by manager Ange Postecoglou. With his contract at Tottenham extending until 2027, Skipp has made 106 appearances since his debut in 2018 and had a successful loan spell at Norwich City during the 2020–21 season, where he played 47 games.
The departure of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Marseille and the addition of Archie Gray from Leeds have shifted Spurs’ midfield dynamics, making Skipp’s move timely. Skipp’s transfer is expected to fill the gap left by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who recently joined Chelsea.
This transfer will mark Leicester City’s fifth signing of the summer, following the acquisitions of Issahaku Fatawu, Caleb Okoli, Michael Golding, and Bobby De Cordova-Reid. Leicester City, who made a remarkable return to the Premier League after being relegated in 2023, previously won the Premier League title in the 2015/16 season and the FA Cup in 2021.
