PT Usha arrives in Paris to support Indian Athletes at 2024 Olympics

Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha has reached Paris to support the Indian athletes participating in the 2024 Olympics. The Team India social media account shared a picture of her arrival at the airport, captioned, Touchdown Paris! IOA President PT Usha ma’am has arrived in Paris to encourage and support our athletes at the Paris Olympic Games.

India is sending a team of 112 athletes competing in 16 sports. The Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11. India aims to surpass its previous haul of seven medals from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which included one gold, two silver, and four bronze medals.

Neeraj Chopra leads a 29-member athletics team. The 21-member shooting team is the second-largest contingent India has sent to any sport at the Paris Olympics, surpassing the 15 shooters at Tokyo 2020. Star archers like Deepika Kumari and Tarundeep Rai will begin their competition on July 25, ahead of the opening ceremony.

India’s first medal opportunity will be in the mixed team air rifle matches on July 27. Teams of Sandeep Singh/Elavenil Valarivan and Arjun Babuta/Ramita Jindal will participate. Manu Bhaker will compete in two pistol events and the mixed team air pistol event.

Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, Olympic and World Champion, will compete in August. PV Sindhu aims for a third Olympic medal in badminton from July 27 to August 5. Mirabai Chanu, Tokyo 2020 silver medalist, competes in weightlifting on August 7. Lovlina Borgohain and Nikhat Zareen are key medal hopefuls in boxing events starting July 27.
