Government Urges Industry and Telcos to Pioneer ‘5G Intelligent Villages’ for Rural Development.

Highlighting its commitment to leveraging 5G technology for rural progress, the government has called upon industry and telecom service providers (TSPs) to collaborate on deploying technology to create 5G Intelligent Villages. This initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), aims to ensure equitable technological advancement by harnessing the transformative capabilities of 5G to uplift rural communities.

During a DoT workshop, Telecommunications Secretary Dr. Neeraj Mittal emphasized the concept of smart and intelligent villages. These villages, equipped to interact, sense their environment, transmit data, and derive insights, are envisioned to empower informed decision-making.

Experts highlighted the imperative to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas, advocating for the integration of cutting-edge technologies like 5G with traditional rural practices to foster sustainable growth and improve quality of life in rural India.
