Bajaj Auto introduced the world’s first CNG-powered motorcycle, the Freedom 125, in three variants on Friday. Priced from Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom), this bike features a 125-CC engine capable of running on both petrol and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powertrains.
The launch event, held in Pune, saw Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto, unveil the CNG motorcycle in the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari. The CNG tank, located under the seat, holds up to two kilograms of CNG and is complemented by a two-litre petrol tank, offering a claimed range of 330 km.
Bajaj highlighted that the Freedom aims to cut operational costs by 50%, providing substantial savings for riders. It boasts features like the longest-in-class seat, mono-linked suspension for enhanced comfort, and Bluetooth connectivity for added convenience.
The Freedom CNG achieves a mileage of 102 km per kg of CNG, translating to a range of approximately 200 km on a full tank. The motorcycle delivers 9.5 PS of power and 9.7 Nm of torque, according to the company.
