Karachi Experiences Fuel Scarcity Due To A Strike By Petroleum Dealers

Must read

Islamabad

Karachi is facing a fuel crisis as the Petroleum Dealers Association of Pakistan remains on strike, causing petrol stations across the city and the country to shut down at 6 AM on Friday, as reported by source. Despite this, petroleum products are still being supplied from Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and other oil marketing organizations.

The Oil Tanker Owners Association, however, has distanced itself from the strike by petroleum dealers. According to its president, Shams Shahwani, fuel continues to be supplied to essential services such as power plants, airports, and railways.

The shortage of fuel in Karachi comes despite assurances from PSO that the supply chain remains fully operational. PSO has stated its commitment to keeping petrol pumps stocked throughout the strike period, ensuring continuous availability of fuel to the public.

Meanwhile, negotiations between the government and the All Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association have not yielded a resolution to the strike, which is ongoing nationwide. The association’s demands have yet to be met, prolonging the deadlock.
