Taylor Swift Reveals Irish Inspiration Behind ‘Folklore’

Must read

Pop star Taylor Swift, who performed in Dublin during her Eras Tour, shared the inspiration behind her 2020 album ‘Folklore’. She revealed that Ireland played a significant role in shaping the album’s fantasy-inspired world, reports source.

During her second night at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, Swift told the crowd, ‘Folklore’ just belongs in Ireland. She explained that she imagined the album’s setting to be like Ireland, with its rich storytelling and diverse characters. That’s very Irish, the storytelling, she added.

Swift described ‘Folklore’ as a chance to explore a different style of songwriting, focusing on linear stories and characters who experience love and heartbreak. Unlike her previous albums, she served as a narrator, creating fictional tales instead of sharing her personal experiences.

She started working on ‘Folklore’ just two days into the pandemic. Despite not being in Ireland, she envisioned an imaginary world that felt like Ireland. I gotta be honest, it seemed like Ireland, Swift told the audience.

Swift concluded by saying, so we’re back to where we belong, before performing her song ‘Betty’, another character-driven track from the album. She highlighted that ‘Folklore’ belongs to the Irish audience.
