Women and Child Welfare Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar has spoken on the issue of Deputy Chief Minister, saying the high command decides on who should be made the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister.
I’m not big enough to talk about that, she told media persons on the sidelines of a programme held for the distribution of cellphones, medicine kits, and saris to anganwadi workers at Kumar Gandharva Rangamandir. Responding to former Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi’s allegation on taking bribe from anganwadi workers during elections, she dared him to prove the charge with evidence. My name is Laxmi, but I have no money. People call them Saahukars, she said with a smile, not taking any names.

Hebbalkar said the government will revive anganwadis in the state. In the first phase, 10,000 anganwadis will be upgraded. For this, 20,000 smart classes have been sanctioned by the central government. It has been decided to start Montessori at anganwadis, and 15,000 graduate teachers will be trained for that. Rs 10 crore has been reserved for the same, she added.
If poor-quality food is supplied to anganwadis, send it back without hesitation. I have already warned the officers concerned with suspension in case poor food is supplied, she explained.
Taluk Panchayat President Ramareddy Patil, Child Development Project Officer Sumitra, Deputy Director of Women and Child Development department Nagaraj and Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Basavaraj Adavimath were present.
