Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is back as Inspector Jatil Yadav in the upcoming crime thriller Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, the sequel to the 2020 hit Raat Akeli Hai. The film’s makers confirmed the news, calling it one of the most awaited thrillers of the year.
Talking about his return, Nawazuddin said it feels like “getting back to unfinished business.” He described his character as “flawed, restless, yet determined to seek justice.” The sequel, he added, tests Jatil’s beliefs and brings new challenges that push him to his limits.
Directed by Honey Trehan, the film promises a darker, more gripping mystery. “Smita and Honey have built a world that feels raw and real, where every clue hides a secret,” Nawazuddin shared. He also thanked RSVP, MacGuffin Pictures, and Netflix for letting him explore more layers of the character.
Netflix announced the sequel on Instagram with the caption, “Ek raat, ek raaz aur ek hatyakand. Inspector Jatil Yadav is back, and the stakes are higher than ever.”
The movie stars Chitrangada Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Deepti Naval, Ila Arun, Revathy, and Radhika Apte. Set years after the first film, it follows Jatil as he investigates a new brutal murder that reveals shocking secrets. The film will premiere at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa before streaming on Netflix.
